The House for Writers – Hiža od besid in Pazin

The House for Writers – Hiža od besid in Pazin is a unique cultural space dedicated to writers and all creators of the written word. Located in the historic old town, at an address on Jules Verne Street, this residential house symbolically connects the local literary scene with a rich global literary tradition. Jules Verne, after whom the street is named, is one of the most renowned authors of adventure literature, and Pazin and its cave even served as inspiration for parts of his novel Mathias Sandorf.

Founded in 2009, the House for Writers brings together authors from Croatia and abroad through residency stays, literary events, and programs that foster creativity, dialogue, and international collaboration. Renato Baretić, Olja Savičević Ivančević, and many other authors have stayed and created in this space, contributing to its status as an important place of contemporary literature.

Today, the House for Writers represents a vibrant meeting point of literature, culture, and inspiration – a place where tradition and contemporary creativity meet in the unique setting of Pazin.
